تمثلت أهمية موضوع [الفكر الإصلاحي للأستاذ جمال الدين الأفغاني والشيخ محمد عبده في ميزان الإسلام] في: أن فكر الأستاذ جمال الدين الأفغاني والشيخ محمد عبده قد مثل ثقلًا واضحًا في العمل الإصلاحي الدعوي والمجتمعي لا ينكره باحث اتفق معهما أم اختلف؛ كما أن فكرهما في أصله قد تشابه لدرجة التطابق الشكلي بما يعني أنه ليس من توارد الخواطر، بل خطوات مدروسة وشراكة علمية وعملية دامت أعوامًا، وآراء نمت عن تفكير وتأمل؛ وقد كان من أهم الأسباب التي دفعتني إلى اختيار هذا الموضوع: استغلال الفرصة البحثية في التعرف عن قرب على التراث الفكري لرجلين من أهم المؤثرين في الرأي العام الإسلامي في القرن العشرين الميلادي، ومحاولة الإفادة من إيجابيات تجربة إصلاحية طالمًا كانت مثار إعجاب كثيرين؛ وقد تمثل منهجي في البحث - بعد الأمانة العلمية واستخدام المناهج المطابقة لطبيعة البحث – في: الاعتماد على ما كَتَب الرجلان، وكذا ما كُتِب عن الرجلين مدحًا أو نقدًا لتنصهر في ذهني أفكار التحليل وعوامل التقييم عن قناعة ووسطية لا عن حكم مسبق أو تحيز؛ ثم وصلت إلى عدد من النتائج منها: أن السبب الأساس في بعض المآخذ التي أخذت على الرجلين أنهما ألقيا حجرًا في المياه الراكدة، وذلك بأقوال وأفعال إصلاحية لم تكن تصدر عن أحد، فكانت جديدة تستدعي الاندهاش ومن ثم النقد، وكان من النقد ما هو عادل نجم عن رؤية وتحليل، ومنه ما هو مجحف حكمته الانتماءات والتحيزات ونتج عن التلقين.
 Abstract:
The importance of the topic [The reformist thought of Professor Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and Sheikh Muhammad Abdo in the balance of Islam] was represented in: The thought of Professor Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and Sheikh Muhammad Abdo represented a clear weight in the religious and societal reform work that is not denied by a researcher who agreed with them or disagreed with them. Also, their thought was similar in its origin to the degree of formal congruence, which means that it is not a telepathy of thoughts, but rather deliberate steps, a scientific and practical partnership that lasted for years, and opinions that grew out of thinking and contemplation. One of the most important reasons that prompted me to choose this topic was to take advantage of the research opportunity to get acquainted closely with the intellectual heritage of two of the most important influencers in Islamic public opinion in the twentieth century AD, and to try to benefit from the positive aspects of a reform experience that was always admired by many. My methodology in the research - after scientific honesty and the use of methods that match the nature of the research - was represented in: relying on what the two men wrote, as well as what was written about the two men in praise or criticism, so that the ideas of analysis and evaluation factors fused in my mind out of conviction and moderation, not out of prejudice or prejudice. Then I reached a number of results, including: that the main reason for some of the criticisms that were taken against the two men was that they threw a stone in stagnant water, and that was with reformist sayings and actions that were not issued by anyone, so they were new that called for astonishment and then criticism, and criticism was what Adel Najm It is about seeing and analyzing, and some of it is what is unfair, its wisdom is affiliations and prejudices, and it resulted from indoctrination.
